CHRISTINE

I’m Christine and I’m 46 years old. I have been experiencing knee pain for the majority of my adult life after an old injury. My knee pain usually flared up after exercise. I took pain-relief medicine when the pain was really bad, but it would upset my stomach. Recently my GP recommended Synvisc to me; he said I was a good candidate for the treatment as my knee pain was still relatively mild. 3-4 weeks after the treatment I was walking down some stairs when I realised that I wasn’t in pain. Now I don’t need to take pain-relievers and don’t have to feel restricted in my daily life.

JACK

I’m Jack, I’m 67 years old. Over the last few years, knee pain and swelling has interfered with my work and my tennis. I tried pain killers before I did anything strenuous but it wasn’t very effective. My orthopaedic surgeon performed an arthroscopy on my knees and advised me that I would need a knee replacement, but I was worried it would impact on my work and my tennis. He then suggested I try Synvisc. I’ve had 3 injections so far, and the pain relief has lasted 12 months or more each time. Synvisc has really helped me to keep up my active lifestyle and my ability to play.

Maree

I’m Maree, I’m 57 years old and I absolutely love gardening. I started experiencing knee pain a few years ago and was later diagnosed with arthritis. The pain was so bad that I could no longer squat or kneel, which made gardening difficult. I took paracetamol occasionally but it didn’t really help. I tried anti-inflammatories too but it increased my blood pressure so I had to stop. Eventually my specialist recommended Synvisc and I have had amazing results. The pain has decreased and now I can enjoy my gardening like I used to. I’ve had 2 injections so far and will be going back for more.
